Why Borderline Personality Disorder Treatment?

BPD TreatmentIf you have a diagnosis or traits of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), you may be struggling with such symptoms as mood swings, anger, unstable relationships, impulsivity, and even self-injury. You may feel as though your symptoms will never go away.

But with the right Borderline Personality Disorder treatment, you can make a complete recovery from your BPD symptoms.

At Clearview Women’s Center for Borderline Personality and Emotional Disorders, our team of BPD treatment experts is committed to helping you learn healthy coping skills and better emotional regulation so that you can live a life worth living.

Our premier treatment center for Borderline Personality Disorder in Los Angeles offers a full continuum of care – residential, day, and outpatient BPD treatment – so that you can get the specific Borderline Personality Disorder treatment that works best for you.

Why Clearview Women’s Center for BPD Treatment?

While most treatment centers treat a variety of mental health disorders, Clearview Women’s Center was created specifically for the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder and emotional dysregulation.

That allows us to customize our treatment to use the most effective and current evidence-based treatments available for BPD. All components of treatment at Clearview are designed to specifically address the needs of women with Borderline Personality Disorder.

The dedicated staff at Clearview Women’s Center is extensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which has proven to be the most effective treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder. This means you’ll get the best treatment possible when it comes to treating your Borderline Personality Disorder symptoms and any co-occurring disorders.

Clearview Women’s Center is one of the only Borderline Personality Disorder treatment centers that offers a full continuum of care, including residential treatment, day treatment, outpatient treatment, and transitional living. You may enter at the appropriate level of care and step down based on your progress. This enables you to begin to apply new skills and generalize them to your natural environment, including work, school, social and family relationships. Generalization of skills is one of the most important factors in helping you to achieve your goals.

Comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): How we are Different

What is comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)? Comprehensive DBT means that you are receiving all modes of DBT, including DBT skills training groups, individual DBT sessions, and phone coaching. It also means that the program has a DBT consultation team, which helps to ensure that the therapists are providing quality DBT.

Comprehensive DBT has been researched and proven to be a highly effective treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder. Most programs offer only one mode of DBT, and therefore are not offering treatment that is based on research and is most effective.

At Clearview, we provide comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Our entire staff – therapists, psychiatrist, clinical director, and even our executive director – has been extensively trained in DBT by Behavioral Tech, Marsha Linehan’s training organization, and/or another DBT training organization.

BPD TreatmentAt our comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy program, you will learn and practice the DBT skills of mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance through individual therapy sessions, DBT skills training groups, and in-person and phone coaching. We are the only treatment center on the West Coast that provides comprehensive DBT at all levels of care.

Clearview’s DBT therapists participate in regular consultation team meetings to help assess where you are in your treatment and to ensure that you are getting the most effective treatment possible. Our team receives ongoing weekly consultation from noted DBT trainer and consultant Charles Swenson, MD, who ensures that the staff is maintaining the proper DBT protocols and providing the most current and effective BPD treatments available.

Support staff in all of our BPD treatment center programs also receive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy so that they can help you practice your skills throughout the day. Therapists are also available during certain hours for phone coaching to help you generalize your skills and get through challenging situations. We want to make sure that you put into practice the healthy coping skills you learn so that you are applying your new skills to your environment.

Evidence-Based BPD Treatment

In addition to Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Clearview uses other evidence-based and holistic treatments for a comprehensive recovery from BPD and co-occurring disorders such as eating disorders, depression, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and substance abuse. Therapists are trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques, as well as other treatments that will help you to make a complete recovery from Borderline Personality Disorder.

Depending on your level of care, Borderline Personality Disorder treatment at Clearview Women’s Center includes many of the following:

  • One to three individual therapy sessions per week with Ph.D.- and master’s-level therapists trained in the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you address depression and anxiety, and to examine and change your thinking patterns.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help develop psychological flexibility and take action based on your values.
  • Mindfulness group to help you learn how to live in the present.
  • Mind-body wellness group to help you manage eating disorder symptoms, if present.
  • Life coaching to help you create personal goals and develop an action plan to achieve them.
  • A seeking safety group to help you manage the symptoms of trauma and addiction.
  • Behavioral activation, which uses principles of behaviorism to teach ways to become more active in order to improve mood and follow through with plans.
  • Art therapy, which uses the creative process therapeutically and fosters safe emotional expression.
  • Yoga therapy, which helps you to develop better body awareness and become more mindful.
